We stayed nearby for Legoland. Found this on Yelp and decided to give it a try. What a pleasant surprise! Who could have thought to find a very decent Italian restaurant in a small town like Lake Wales?!! We ordered warm plate appetizer, which had calamari, eggplant, oysters, stuffed clams and shrimps. It was great. For main entries we had spaghetti with meat sauce, gnocchi, mushroom ravioli, chicken Marsala. Every dish was so good. Chicken was tender, ravioli sauce was very creamy, gnocchi with a bit of tomato and prosciutto was heavenly. It probably is the best Italian restaurant we ever tried. Will definitely return.

The best Italian restaurant I've ever been to. The food is terrific and the staff dresses professional. This definitely not the typical chain Italian restaurant. You will not be disappointed.

No complaints here! Best Italian food and service you can find in Lake Wales. This was our second time in two years and this place continues to impress. Very attentive wait service. Food was top notch.

We really enjoyed our dinner here! Every dish was seasoned well, the staff was friendly, and the espresso drinks were great. The prices were reasonable and we all were very satisfied with our meals. We tried the Lasagna, Chicken Parmesan, Chicken and Sausage, and a salmon special!!! I would definitely recommend it - we will be going back!!

First time. The restaurant is very nice. Parking is a little wonky, but not a real issue. Our waitress was wonderful. Attentive without hovering. Food was fabulous. 2 of our party had stuffed pork chops and declared them some of the best they ever had. I had Chicken fettuccini Alfredo. Great flavors, nothing overwhelmed anything else. Pasta cooker perfectly. Wife had Chicken, sausage and pasta dish (yes, it had a new, but we couldn't pronounce it nor can we remember it). Again, delicious and cooked perfect. Another member had the seafood special of the evening and raved. Finally, our last party member had the mannicotti and again, nothing but praise. Most of us couldn't fit desert. The portions on the entrees were generous. But we did get a piece of the chocolate mousse pie. It didn't last long!! The place is nice, service was ecellent, food was worth it (for 2 of us, din at, no drinks, with tip was about $42). If I had to come up with one negative, I would say that the singer did not really add to our enjoyment of the evening. We were seated far enough away fromhee that she didn't really distract too much, but I don't think owe would have enjoyed it if we had been much closer. If you nearby, go. Its worth it.

Very nice decor, very good food, a wonderful prix fixe lunch that was a steal for the price. Don't know if they were busier than usual or short staffed but the service was not great. Four and a half for the food and value, 2 and a half or 3 for the service this visit. Never been here so don't know if it's typical service. I will go back though to give them another shot!

The good was good and the service was excellent. The only thing is that the place is to small making it seem a little crowded and the decor is a little to dated... it needs some colors!!

Driving back from Lego Land to South Florida we yelped and found this gem. Awesome food served in a pleasant welcoming setting. From home made salad dressing to traditional Italian fare it is a delightful spot with food worthy of a visit. We will certainly be back on our next trip.

While the atmosphere was fine the food was not. The eggplant was not made to order- it had obviously been made in bulk and then cut to serving size- which left it soggy and gooey at luke-warm temperature. All I could taste was cheese, no hint of eggplant whatsoever. It tasted like one of those boxed meals you buy in the freezer aisle and cook at home. We dined here solely based on the Yelp reviews but it did not live up to its reputation and I regret not asking for my money back.

Our waiter Joseph was excellent. He did a great job providing an enjoyable experience. I will say it was above average but not excellent. I ordered the daily special which was a risotto with portobello mushrooms and peas. I also ordered chicken as a side and a glass of Chardonnay. Overall, the meal was very good. The bread provided with the appetizers was excellent. I wished they would have provided oil and vinegar with the bread for dipping purposes. In addition to french bread toast points and an excellent rustic tomato sauce, they created an olive bread using Calamata olives. Very tasty. For the entre, there was only one problem withe the meal. My side chicken lacked flavor. They pounded it out so it was flat and provided me with 2 flat chicken breasts. While they were not dry, they lacked flavor. They were grilled, which was great to see, however, I would have preferred 1 side of chicken breast that was not pounded flat, seasoned well, and cooked to perfection. Overall, a solid 4 restaurant. If the chicken had been more 3 dimensional and seasoned well, I may have bumped this up. Overall the ambiance, service and quality would influence me to return.

Excellent service. Great food! Very high quality. Reasonable prices. Baked mushroom ravioli, spaghetti with meat balls, eggplant parmesan, angel hair with freshly steamed vegetables were all very, very good. Lemon cake, cannoli, were terrific. Great presentation. Real butter for the bread! The tea was also very good. Highly recommend. Oh, did I mention great service?! Quant atmosphere. Nice music- Frank Sinatra fits the environment very well.

If they don't know you, forget it! My mom lives in the town, and comes here often enough, but they don't know her by name. She wanted to take us out to a nice Italian dinner. We had reservations for 4 at 7p. We waited about 10 min; hostess tells us they are setting our table now...we can see them doing it. In the door comes another group of 4, the head guy calls her by name and immediately sits them at our table! Her rez was for 7:30p... I was STEAMED!! He didn't care at all! I told him we would be at the bar where he could buy us a drink. 30+ minutes later, we get a table. Order, and wait, and wait, and wait! They never put our order in - and there was no apology, nothing. We never got some of our order either. Rude, inconsiderate, and not worth it! Don't bother!

Went here on a whim and its amazing. Great food in such a strange location. One of the best italian restaurants i've tried. Went here after Bok Towers and was pleasantly surprised and how delicious and fresh the food was.

For Polk County it's by far the Best Italian in the county, great food, great service. Living in the north for 30 you get used to great Italian.........this place compares. The place is nicely sized, very clean and well priced.

Saw the reviews, was even better then imagined. Had the snapper special, wife has noodle dish, just perfect. Service was top shelf as well. Had to get a to go dessert since everything else was so good!

I got take out from here a couple days ago, the food was amazing. The service was very attentive, even though I got take out I still enjoyed quality service. I know Polk County is by no means a culinary Mecca but this place has definitely energized my palate. In short this place will be seeing me again.

Unfortunately we cannot rate the food as this restaurant. They would not honor our reservation called in earlier that morning on Good Friday. No apology given, no accountability. Make sure you call the restaurant back later to confirm that your reservation was truly documented!

This might be the only 5 star review I've ever given. I travel a lot, and I always seek out the best Italian food in big cities. I was shocked to find that my new favorite Italian restaurant is in little Lake Wales. The foccacia bread was incredible, by far the best I've ever had. For entrees I had spaghetti carbonara and traditional lasagna, and both were supreme. You could tell the pasta was homemade. Absolutely yummy, and I'll be back!

This place is amazing; I never thought that you would find such a place in the middle of nowhere! Great staff and super delicious food! I had eggplant parmigiana. Caprese salad was very good too. Will definitely stop by again!

Food was really spectacular, and I grew up in an an Italian immigrant neighborhood so I rarely say that about Italian food in Florida. This was the best Chicken Sorrentino I have ever had. I heard my wife unconsciously make the mmmm noise over her eggplant several times. The staff was really attentive and the check was a pleasant shock. The kids loved everything and we really felt happy (like only a good meal on the road can make you feel). Because we were yelping it on a road trip we were a little under dressed, this is a nice place for a date or a celebration.

5 stars= each bite delicious, and attentive detailed service from Tyler, romantic ambiance and great prices. So we stopped here on the heel end of our vacation and we are so glad we did. I was surprised how clean, and nice the dining room is. Our server was super knowledgeable about the food and the town of Lake Wales. Which PS Lake Wales is a small town that had me concerned we'd find anything tasty, but this was a true gem. Lake Wales also has a few unique attractions. The eggplant rollitini was phenomenal. The cannolis had an amazing crust very tasty and unique compared to previous experiences. The salad dressing was so delicious we bought some to take home. I had the lin'contro pasta creamy sauce and sausage it was so tasty, and my girlfriend's dish was also delicious. She was in the mood for capers, they added them no problem. Again the service was on point we even were given some of their delicious bread to take home with our leftovers. Lastly we had a 5 course meal for $50, including the salad dressing we bought that is equal to about two bottles of dressing.

Service and food were very good - no complaints. The atmosphere is traditional as is the menu. Beer and wine are served. The presentation of the food was well considered which gives a touch of elegance you might not expect in the middle of the Florida orange groves. The staff did a great job. I would eat here again.

Debated whether or not to go with 4 or 5 stars and I settled on 5. I made reservations for three using the Yelp ap. We arrived at 7 and were seated immediately. I specified in my request that we would like a corner table and they honored that request. Tyler our waiter was extremely attentive and answered all of the questions I had. The restaurant is on the smaller side and did have an outdoor area in the back that was enclosed to keep it warmer. They bring out a bread basket to start. One small gripe was the butter was cold (hard) which made it hard to spread. There is also a marinara sauce you can dip the bread it. For entrees I chose the salmon sautéed in a way similar to a picatta dish. It was served with a side of vegetables (or you could have pasta). My mom had the L'incontro pasta and my dad chose the Veal Francaise (which he raved about, especially how tender it was). The food was really good, served hot and with a nice presentation. Service was fast and efficient and everyone was very friendly. Prices are reasonable for the area and reservations were easy to make. If you are in the area and in the mood for Italian I would recommend (however I do suggest have a reservation as it was busy at 7 pm on a Saturday in January)

We found this jewel while traveling. Everything from the decor to menu were authentic. For an appetizer we had the eggplant rollotini. Great sauce, cheese and presentation. To accompany the entree we had a salad which was served with their house made dressing that was so delish we bought some for home. For an entree I had the chicken francese with capers and pasta, it was just enough lemon and the breading was perfect. For dessert we took a cannoli to go and it was definitely home made. Tyler was our server and he was very informative and had an awesome personality.

Took a chance on this place when we were camping at Lake Kissimmee. It had opened a month ago. The environment is elegantly designed with gleaming glass topped tables, an attractive bar station and spacious table arrangement. Italian food is often heavily glopped with dense red sauce and gluey blobs of cheese. Here it was anything but. Husband had mushroom ravioli with a light cream dressing. The pasta was obviously home made. Melt in the mouth delicate, not too soft and not too al dente. The stuffing of mushrooms was perfectly textured. You could see and taste fresh mushroom, not pureed too nothingness. I had an appetizer of eggplant rollatini. I normally avoid such a dish because of the aforementioned glob factor. This was excellent. A slim slice of eggplant, lightly enveloped in a fresh tomato sauce with just enough ricotta to be there without oozing over the plate. A fresh made cannoli for dessert ended this wonderful experience. Althought the servers were young, the general manager choreographed them like a pro team. Delivering dishes quickly, helping each other attend to customers. it was a pleasure to watch.

This is actually a great find for Lake Wales! Living in the area, you get used to putting up with some pretty mediocre food. This is not mediocre! While it isn't the best Italian food I have had in the area; L'incontro is a giant leap forward from Crap-abbas, or supposed food that comes from the Olive Garden. This is home-cooked, home-style true Italian food. While a little pricer than either one of those chains; you certainly get much better food!

Stopped by on our way home to Vero Beach on State Road 60 and found this gem of a place. Service was pleasant and efficient, the food was delicious and Chianti was good. The extensive menu made it difficult to choose. Nice variety of chicken, veal, and pasta dishes. We ordered gnocchi and veal osso bucco special. We especially enjoyed the salad special ( fresh green beans with onion, fresh mozzarella, and tomatoes with a light dressing. We may even make the trek to eat here.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
